Series Schedule

Round 1: Sunday 18 Dec. 2011 Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, QLD

Local Start Time: IronWomen (12:00 noon-1:3pm), IronMen (2:00pm-4:00pm)

Enduro: 90-Minute Race is a continuous event which consists of the ski / swim / board with 500m runs in between each leg. Women will do approx half of this in duration.

Television: Network Ten 2-5pm AEDST


Round 2: Sunday 8 Jan. 2012 Portsea, Mornington Peninsula, VIC

Local Start Time : IronWomen (12:30pm-1:30pm), IronMen (2:30-4:30pm)

The Triple Sprint format for what will be one of the world’s first major sporting events of 2011! Expect the surf to be wild and the competition to be hot as the IronMen and IronWomen look to celebrate a few days later than the fans that are sure to pack the picturesque beach. The Triple Sprint is a more conventional IronMan and IronWoman course, out & back once for each water leg with a short run between the legs. Athletes accumulate points in each of the 3 races to get their overall placing. For men, 3 x 20/25min races. Women will do a shorter version of the same course.

Round 3: Sunday 22 Jan. 2012 , Newcastle, NSW

Local Start Time : IronWomen (12:30pm-1:30pm), IronMen (2:00pm-4:00pm)

Eliminator: Knockout format with 5 races of 14 minutes in duration with 10minutes rest in between the races. Four 3  athletes will be eliminated after Race 1 then 3 after Races 2-4 resulting in 8 competitors for Race 5.   The IronWomen will have 3 races with 6 being eliminated each race to find a winner. In an intriguing twist, the winner of each race chooses the first leg of the next race.

Round 4: Sunday 29 Jan. 2012 Perth, WA

Local Start Time: IronWomen (8:30am-10:00pm), IronMen (10:30-1:00pm)

Marathon: A continuous race that covers the coastline from Scarborough to City to Swanbourne to Cottesloe Beaches. The men race over a 22.8km course which will take the winner around 2hr 17 minutes. The women race over an 11.2km course that will take the winner about 1hr 27 minutes

Round 5: Sunday 12 Feb. 2012 Coolum, Sunshine Coast, QLD

Local Start Time: IronWomen (11:30am-12:30pm), IronMen (1:30pm-3:30pm)

Pursuit: The pursuit consists of three individual races and one full Ironman race.

1. Ski | 2. Board | 3. Swim | 4. Full Ironman

The buoys will be set for the full Ironman Race and individual races will take place as follows:

Individual swim race will be around the board buoys (2 x middle buoys)

Individual board race will be around the ski buoys

Individual ski race will be a loop around the ski buoys, back in and around (only as far as) the board buoys, back out around the ski buoys and in to the shore to finish

Full Ironman course to finish as normal

Most accumulated points wins.

Round 6: Sunday 19 Feb. 2012 Noosa Heads, Sunshine Coast, QLD

Local Start Time: IronWomen (11:30am -12:30pm, IronMen (1:30pm-3:30pm)

Eliminator: Knockout format with 4 races of 10-12 minutes in duration with 10 – 15 minutes rest in between the races. Four athletes will be eliminated each round. In an intriguing twist, the winner of each race chooses the first leg of the next race.  The IronWomen will have 3 races with 6 being eliminated each race to find a winner.
